Kathmandu - Collaboration with Kathryn
Friends since childhood, Kathryn and I travelled to Nepal together in March 2023. While there, Kathryn kept a visual diary illustrating the amazing sights of Kathmandu and it was during this trip that the idea of a collaboration was formed. Inspired by our ‘Places’ collection and her own love of drawing buildings and architecture, Kathryn started on her design to commemorate our special time in Nepal and here it is being skilfully hand knotted by our weavers in Nepal.
Nepal - Production
I create every weaving graph myself which is then sent to our mill. They print it out in black and white and hand paint it as shown here to differentiate between each colour position. Each square on the paper represents a knot. The graph is then attached to the loom and the immensely skilled weavers hand knot each pixel/square by hand.
I feel so lucky to do something I love so much and honoured to work with such a skilled and amazing team in Nepal.
